Simple Tomato Sauce
Cook two tomatoes with a little water and one dessertspoon reduced-salt soy sauce and a ½ teaspoon sambal olek. You may add fresh minced garlic if desired.
Tomato Salsa
Chop two tomatoes, one small onion, one garlic clove, six fresh basil leaves, six fresh sprigs parsley and one red capsicum. Add 1/2 teaspoon sambal olek. Simmer gently.

Mushroom sauce
Using anon stick pan, lightly brush the base and sides with olive oil. Add finely sliced mushrooms, a little water and 1 tablespoon reduced-salt soy sauce. Simmer over low heat. You may add a little garlic if desired.
This mushroom sauce works really well with red meat. We enjoy it with a nice rib eye.
Tahini Sauce
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons tahini
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 garlic, minced
- Pinch sea salt
- Pinch chilli powder
- 1 tablespoon sweet chilli sauce
- 5-6 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon soy milk yoghurt
Method
Combine all ingredients except yoghurt and water and mix thoroughly. As the mixture thickens add water and beat until the mixture runs freely off the spoon. Add yoghurt and beat. The mixture should be smooth and easy to pour.
